Professor Large came to teach at University of Hong Kong more than 50 years ago, he also brought some lacrosse sticks with him. Without knowing the ripple effect that he has left behind, he planted the seeds of lacrosse in Hong Kong. Lacrosse has been played at the university since 1950.
Let’s see what our two captains say about lacrosse!
Captain Frankie
Run run run! This is my first impression of lacrosse. I love team sports because it includes team spirit, playing with cooperation and strategies. Also, speed is needed in lacrosse games and I enjoy to play in very fast games. I am an ice hockey player and never played lacrosse, but it is pretty cool and easy to pick up when I tried my first lacrosse mixed league game. Keep fighting and enjoy it guys!
Captain Frances
At first, lacrosse to me was like people holding sticks chasing the ball and it seemed to be easy. I knew I was wrong after playing in the summer mixed league last year. Lacrosse is a challenging sport requiring lots of techniques like cradling, scooping, switching hands, footwork… They are hard to master but I find that fun to learn, especially with our lovely and energetic CDR lacrosse teammates!
Our lacrosse team usually plays league game or practices on Sunday afternoon, feel free to pop by and say hi! Don’t be shy, all of our team members are very friendly and enthusiastic in sharing the game we love!
If you are interested in joining the team or coming for a trial session. Please sign up at the club office! We will contact you as soon as possible.
